The Export Volume of Tomsk Companies Reached 323 Million Dollars in 2018

According to the Tomsk Customs, in 2018 the foreign trade volume of Tomsk companies amounted to $373.6 million increasing by 28.4% ($82.5 million) compared to 2017. The international trade resulted in 7.9 billion rubles of customs and other payments to the federal budget (6.58 billion in 2017).

Tomsk business adjusted to the difficult foreign economic situation. There is an increase in export trade for the second year in a row, mainly due to exports of chemicals and timber. At the same time, imports decreased by almost 1%. The amount of local goods export is about 80% of the total foreign trade turnover", said Andrei Agashev, the head of the Tomsk Customs.

In 2018 Tomsk companies export reached 323.3 million dollars, while imports were 50.3 million dollars. Timber dominated the export trade with 46.7%, chemical products – with 45.6%. The share of machinery and equipment is 5.2%, agricultural products (2.1%) and other goods (0.4%). The leading importers of timber from the Tomsk region in 2018 were Uzbekistan (1.7 times increased exports) and China (36.6% increased exports). Most chemical products were exported to Finland (up 20.8% year-on-year).

In 2018 in the Tomsk region the dominating share in import belonged to machinery and equipment (50.2%), as well as chemical products (36.8%). Food imports account for 9.2% of the total food imported, metals and metal products - 2.9%, other goods, including consumer goods - 0.9%.
