Gazpromneft Successfully Tests High Tech Boring

In Tomsk Region Gazpromneft-Vostok company has successfully tested controlled pressure technology for horizontal layer boring in Paleozoic formations.

The new method increases the work efficiency: One bore bit travel allows to open up to 8-10 natural cracks that will bypass oil to a wellsite during operation. Previously it was impossible to cover such amount of cracks with one wellsite, it was necessary to bore a number of them with the layer of horizontal length of 150-300 meters. The new technology increases the length of horizontal area up to 800 meters and covers a number of cracks within one wellsite.

The technology has a number of advantages over traditional boring methods: it allows to control the process online, to clean well shaft from cuttings, to minimize mud leaks to the layer and keep the initial productivity of the collector.
