Problems of import substitution in healthcare and pharmaceutical industry will be discussed within the frame of the first Tomsk international pharmaceutical forum

On September 23rd and 24th, the first Tomsk international pharmaceutical forum "Pharmaceutics and medical products" will be held in the Special economic zone "Tomsk", supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

Their participation in the forum confirmed representatives of key federal ministries for pharmaceutical industry: deputy minister of education and science of the Russian Federation Lyudmila Ogorodova, deputy minister of industry and trade of the Russian Federation Sergey Tsyb, first deputy minister of healthcare of the Russian Federation Igor Ghahramanian.

As noted Michael Sonkin, the main objective of the forum is to develop any form of cooperation between major Russian manufacturers of pharmaceuticals and medical products, investors and territorial innovation cluster "Pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and information technology."

"The forum will be attended by major pharmaceutical companies such as "Pharmacontract", JSC "Evalar", Pfizer, "Famreko", "R-Pharm", "Ruskhimbio", "Pharmsynthez", Amgen Inc. We are interested they localize production in our region, using scientific potential of Tomsk region. Import substitution problem is very relevant for the pharmaceutical industry in our country today,"- told Sonkin.
Forms of cooperation may be:
- localization of production (primarily in the Tomsk SEZ), 
- establishment of R&D-centers, 
- outsourcing by carrying out of research and development in Tomsk universities and research institutes, 
- educational programs, 
- support talented students and young scientists.

There will debate on protection of intellectual property, scientific and technological forecasting and other issues on the Pharmaceutical forum. Forum agenda includes: visiting session of the task group of the Ministry of Education and Science under the federal special purpose program "Development of pharmaceutical and medical industry of the Russian Federation for the period till 2020 and further prospects". In addition, within the the forum will be summed up the following competitions:

- competition of young scientists' works in the area of pharmaceutics and medical devices with the purpose of including them into the strategic research program of the technology platform "Medicine of the Future" with the support of the "Pharmacontract" group of companies,

- competition of technological start-up projects in the area of biotechnologies and medicine in Acceleration program BioTechMed, implemented as a part of the federal project for technological start-ups GenerationS-2014 which was initiated by the Russian venture company (RVC), the Center for innovative development of Moscow (CID), Tomsk State University,

- competition of individual youth projects in the area of biomedicine organized by Pfizer.
