Tomsk polytechnic university (TPU) receives the status of federal innovation ground

Tomsk polytechnic university has received the status of federal innovation ground (FIN) in the field of personnel training for pharmaceutical and biotechnological industries. Such status was obtained due to the victory of the joint project of Natural resources institute and TPU and R-Pharm CJSC in the ministry contest. TPU remains the innovation ground through to 2017.
During the annual contest of Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, TPU project “Development and implementation of model system based on multidisciplinarity for training and retraining of highly qualified specialists for specific of pharmaceutical and biotechnological industries” has obtained the status of federal innovation ground. The project is executed with the help of physical and analytical chemistry department of the Natural resources institute of the TPU along with the leading pharmaceutical company R-Pharm.
“The federal innovation ground status is a sign of reputation, the confirmation of our pioneer work. The federal innovation grounds feature the most advanced teaching practices. The new status will let us shape the competences for the whole pharmaceutical and biotechnological industry. We will become some kind of a trend-setter, a role model for the rest”, says academiс advisor of the project, head of physical and analytical chemistry department Abdigali Bakibayev.
The status is granted to TPU for the period of 2013 to 2017. During this time TPU will have to develop new teaching techniques for pharmaceutical and biotechnological industry, new educational programs, implement best world practices in the area of biotechnology and management, arrange modern educational process and make way for the creation of advanced R&D center.
One of the main project peculiarities is the tight cooperation with a real economy sector. This is why the key partner is one of the leading pharmaceutical companies R-Pharm. It is the company enterprises that will test the new teaching programs.
